Arima Onsen from Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe or Nara

It’s about 60 minutes drive or less from Osaka depending on traffic condition

a famous hot spring town within the city limits of Kobe, but on the opposite side of Mount Rokko from the city center. The town lies in a natural mountain setting, yet is close enough for Kobe and Osaka residents as an easy day trip or weekend getaway.

Arima onsen is considered one of Japan’s oldest hot spring resorts and has often stood at or near the top of onsen rankings for Western Japan.

The town has 2 types of hot spring waters which spring up at various sources around town: The Kinsen (gold water) is colored brown with iron deposits and is said to be good for skin ailments and muscle pain, while the clear Ginsen (silver water) contains radium and carbonate and is said to cure various muscle and joint ailments.

From the Rokko Arima Ropeway, which connects the top of Mt. Rokko with Arima Onsen in about 12 minutes, passengers can enjoy close-up views of the dynamic beauty of Mt. Rokko, where nature’s expressions change as the seasons turn.
New gondolas will commence operation on March 20, 2020. The magnificent natural beauty of Mt. Rokko is now even more thrilling viewed through expansive glass windows.

One of Hyogo Prefecture’s top spots to enjoy the beauty go the autumn season. The park is home to approximately 2,500 maple trees that ensure some ultra vibrant color. History buffs also have a reason to stop by the park – it was a favorite of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, a samurai and daimyo (feudal lord) of the late Sengoku period.
